UCAT is removed, GPA becomes a pass/fail threshold of 6.0 (B+), and ranking becomes 50% MMI and 50% Casper. There are now 9 pathways into premed, up from 2. Read the full guide.
Is the UCAT still required for UoA medicine?
Not from 2028 entry. The UCAT is removed from University of Auckland MBChB selection. It still applies to the 2027-entry cohort.
What GPA do I need for UoA medicine?
For 2028 entry, at least 6.0 (a B+ average) across the 4 core first-year courses, with no grade below B in any of the 8 first-year courses. It is a pass/fail threshold, not a weighted score.
Does a higher GPA give me an advantage from 2028?
No weighting is given to GPA above the threshold. Once you clear 6.0, ranking is decided by the MMI and Casper.
Does clearing the GPA threshold guarantee an interview?
No. Interview invitations are issued in ranked order, so clearing the threshold does not guarantee an invite.
