What Is the University of Auckland MMI?

The Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) is a compulsory interview stage for University of Auckland MBChB applicants and other clinical programmes, including BOptom, BPharm, BMedImag(Hons), MAud and MND. For 2028 entry it makes up 50% of final selection, up from 25%.

Why does the MMI matter more for 2028?

UCAT is removed and GPA becomes a pass/fail threshold of 6.0 (B+ average) across the 4 core first-year courses: BIOSCI 107, CHEM 190, POPLHLTH 111 and MEDSCI 142, with no grade below B in any of the 8 first-year courses. Final ranking is 50% MMI and 50% Casper.

What attributes are assessed?

Eight attributes: communication, equity, ethical and moral reasoning, critical thinking, cultural safety and self-reflection, teamwork and leadership, resilience and motivation, and mental flexibility and problem-solving. Only 3 are assessed per station, and you won't know which.

What are the 7 domains?

Equity, moral and ethical, career choice, healthcare issue, personal insight, personal experience, and Hauora Māori.
